The new coach for Washington State’s football team has some strong Wisconsin ties. Jake Dickert was the Cougars’ defensive coordinator last week.
Then, he was abruptly named acting head coach Monday after the school fired head coach Nick Rolovich and four assistants.
Rolovich had sought a religious exemption to taking the COVID-19 vaccination, but he was turned down.
Dickert graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and is the nephew of former Badgers defensive lineman Gary Dickert.
He played wide receiver for the Pointers from 2002-to-2006 and he was in his second season with Washington State when he was promoted.
