The East River Trail attacker has been arrested.
Investigators with the De Pere Police Department, with help from the Wisconsin Crime Lab, identified the attacker in the incident on the East River Trail a couple of weeks ago, and he was taken into custody yesterday afternoon (October 18th).
The suspect’s name has not yet been released, as formal charges are still pending.
The suspect is allegedly responsible for an attack on a woman in the park on October 5th, which left her battered and her 5-month old child lying in the grass 50 yards away.
Police say this was a “stranger assault”, as the victim doesn’t appear to know her attacker.
The victim has been released from the hospital and is now recovering at home with her family.
The baby was not harmed in the attack.
