The “Eviction Free M-K-E” initiative has been launched to keep families in their homes and stopping evictions.
Housing advocates say the program will provide families facing eviction with access to legal representation.
The numbers show that just three percent of people in Milwaukee County who face eviction have access to legal representation, while more than half of landlords do.
Eviction Free M-K-E provides a lawyer for no charge.
U-S Senator Tammy Baldwin says the chances of that eviction being dismissed because they are able to work something out – or at least gets delayed – goes up by 90 percent.
