Flags will be flying at half-staff Friday across Wisconsin in honor of a Navy sailor killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Navy Seaman 2nd Class Arthur Thinnes of Milwaukee was onboard the USS Oklahoma on December 7th, 1941 when the Japanese fired torpedoes, sinking the battleship.
Thinnes’ remains were unaccounted for until March of this year.
Governor Tony Evers said in his order, “I am glad to know that after nearly 80 years he is finally being laid to rest in the place he once called home.”
Thinnes will be buried with full military honors Friday at Wood National Cemetery in Milwaukee.
