Governor Tony Evers recently pardoned fifteen more people previously convicted of crimes, and a Sheboygan woman was on that list.
That woman is Crystal Duran, who helped her boyfriend sell controlled substances by being a translator for him.
She was 17 and pregnant at the time, and now is a caregiver in Sheboygan and lives with her family.
Duran is one of 278 pardons issued by Governor Evers, who resumed the pardon program after the previous administration didn’t pardon anyone.
Felons in Wisconsin can apply for a pardon if they completed their sentence at least five years ago and have no pending criminal charges.
Once pardoned, some of the rights lost due to a felony conviction are restored.
