There has been another spike in thefts from cars reported in Manitowoc County, but not from inside the vehicle.
According to the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, thefts of catalytic converters off of vehicles have become more and more prevalent over the past month.
In a post on Facebook, the Department stated, “Victims reported having their vehicles parked at various public locations in Manitowoc County. When they returned to their vehicles they discovered the catalytic converters were removed. The converters are then believed to be sold as scrap.”
The cost to repair this theft is estimated to be around $3,000.
