A Manitowoc man is facing charges after he was found to be in possession of a stolen Purple Heart Medal.
An officer was dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of South 37th Street for a welfare check.
The man had reportedly been served a five-day eviction notice but was still residing in the home.
When the man opened the door, he noticed an improvised smoking device, which smelled of marijuana.
While being searched, the officer also found a Purple Heart Medal, on which another individual’s name was inscribed.
The officer made contact with the owner, who resides in Two Rivers.
He confirmed it was his medal, and did not know it had been taken.
The suspect was arrested and has been charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of THC (his second or subsequent offense) and Drug Paraphernalia, and Felony Bail Jumping.
