The Manitowoc County Health Department will be holding a pediatric flu vaccine clinic for children later this month.
The influenza vaccine will be free and available to anyone between 6 months and 18 years of age, regardless of insurance coverage. Vaccine supply is limited, and vaccination will be available by appointment only.
Also, the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine will also be available to anyone 12 and older. CDC recommends that everyone ages 6 months and older get an annual flu vaccine.
People at highest risk for serious illness include young children, pregnant women, people 65 and older, and people with chronic health conditions, such as asthma or heart disease.
While it is especially important that people in these groups get vaccinated, it is also very important that healthy people ages 5 to 64 years get vaccinated too, since they are most likely to spread influenza and can still get complications from flu.
