A Manitowoc man is facing charges after he allegedly struck his wife and threatened her with a gun.
Officers were dispatched to the Post Office after a caller claimed her husband was threatening to harm himself.
The female caller told police that her 27-year-old husband had become upset with her after he learned that she was speaking with a male co-worker, accusing her of being unfaithful.
During the confrontation, the man reportedly slapped her and grabbed her by the neck with both hands.
While officers were taking pictures of the woman’s injuries, she received a message from the suspect, who said that he had her gun, and if she told anyone including the police “it won’t be pretty at all.”
The officers located the man at his place of employment and arrested him without incident.
The man denied physically assaulting his wife, but was charged with Strangulation, Battery, and Disorderly Conduct, each with Domestic Violence Enhancers, as well as being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
