The 15-year-old shooting suspect arrested by Fitchburg police Tuesday night has had the charge he faces changed.
An 11-year-old girl was killed and no names have been released.
The teen was initially booked into the Dane County Juvenile Reception Center on a tentative charge of first-degree reckless homicide.
That has been changed to homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon.
Police say their investigation led to the change.
The victim’s family calls the deadly incident an accident, saying they are focused on getting legal support for their son.
