The Manitowoc County community stepped up in a big way to help a Mishicot woman who suffered a brain injury in July.
Maggie Burmeister was biking along the Mariners Trail on July 16th when she lost control of her bike and hit her head on the concrete.
This caused her to suffer a brain injury, a broken eye socket, and nose, and her lung collapsed.
A benefit was held earlier this month to help raise money for Burmeister, and after accounting for the silent auctions, 50/50, paddle raffles, smoke road band donation, gun raffles, the GoFundMe campaign, t-shirt sales, and cash donations, a total of $18,088 was raised.
One of the event organizers said of the generosity, “There aren’t enough adjectives in the English-speaking language to describe how absolutely amazing you all are!”
