The City of Two Rivers is continuing to work on developing the former Eggers property along the East Twin River, and recently made a big move to help that development along.
According to City Manager Greg Buckley, the City Council gave final approval on Tax Incremental Financing District 16, which encompasses that property and some other surrounding parcels of land.
“The former Eggers site, 3.5 acres, was purchased by the city a couple of years ago,” Buckley told Seehafer News. “Our City council, earlier this year, awarded a contract to build a new stormwater retention pond on the northern third of the property. The balance of the property is available for development and we have interest.”
While a final deal has not yet been signed, the City has been in negotiations with an unnamed developer in the Fox Valley, which is looking to build some market-rate housing units.
“Whether it’s condos or apartments, that’s not finalized yet,” Buckley explained. “But we are looking at something on the order of 60 to 66 units on that waterfront site, adjacent to the downtown.”
Buckley also said that TID 16 will “help make some good things happen on the Downtown waterfront.”
