The Town of Two Creeks was a busy area yesterday, as people gathered to celebrate the large-scale solar energy project, the Point Beach Solar Energy Center.
The solar energy farm is the brainchild of WPPI Energy and NextEra Energy Resources and has been in the planning process since 2017.
Work was completed last week, and the eco-friendly power plant is now fully operational.
NextEra estimates that the 315,000 solar panels will generate around $8 million for Manitowoc County over the next 20 years, and will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions, thus making Manitowoc County a more eco-friendly area.
