The Fond du Lac Police Department now has one less officer, as COVID-19 has claimed the life of one of their men in blue.
Police Chief Arron Goldstein announced yesterday that 26-year-old Joseph Kurer died from complications brought on by the virus.
The Chief did not specify when Kurer died but did say his death will be considered to have occurred in the line of duty.
The young officer joined the Fond du Lac Police Department on August 6th, 2018, and served on the Tactical Field Force Team, the Honor Guard Unit, and the Domestic Violence Intervention Team.
Officer Kurer served honorably in his three years on the force, receiving multiple awards such as the City of Fond du Lac Police Department Life Saving Award.
He is survived by his wife and two children, and funeral arrangements have not yet been released.
