University of Wisconsin System President Tommy Thompson says every student wants to be back in class and that’s where they belong. The numbers suggest he is right.
Thompson says in-person classes in the system have returned to levels seen before the coronavirus pandemic. Eighty-five percent of undergraduate classes are in-person. Thompson’s goal had been 75 percent.
The La Crosse, Madison, and Platteville campuses are all more than 93 percent in-person now. Many of those classes were virtual during the height of the pandemic, but the U-W System has offered some online classes for years.
