Police in Madison say the driver of a vehicle that hit and fatally injured a pedestrian this week is cooperating with investigators.
The accident happened Monday at about 8:00 PM on the city’s busy East Washington Avenue.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors weren’t able to save his life.
Police haven’t released the name of the person who was killed.
Police say they have increase enforcement this summer, writing about 1,600 citations and warnings between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
A police spokesperson says that activity is well above historical rates.
