Following the recent departure of Curt Andrews, the Two Rivers City Council is looking for someone to fill the vacant seat.
City Manager Greg Buckley told Seehafer News that they are now accepting applications from citizens of the city.
“It would be appropriate for people interested in the position to provide a letter of interest, and a resume,” Buckley said. “That will be due by Friday, October 15th at noon, in order that those applications can go into the City Council packet for the meeting on Monday, October 18th.”
This appointment would only be temporary, as in April, there will be another election held for the public to vote on who they want on the Council.
“In Two Rivers all the Council members serve at large. They don’t get elected from Aldermanic Districts,” Buckley explained. “We will have three council positions on the ballot because normal terms are up, and there will be one position listed separately to vote for someone to serve a two-year term, filling out the balance of what was Curt Andrews’ three-year term.”
Andrews was serving as the Council President when he stepped down, a role that was filled by the Vice-President, Adam Wachowski.
The Council voted for a new Vice-President on Monday (September 20th), but the vote ended in a 4-4 tie between Darla LeClair and Jay Remiker. To break the tie, the Council went to a coin toss, with LeClair ultimately assuming the role.
