There is some good news and bad news for those who travel through Manitowoc on a regular basis.
First the good news, as Assemblyman Paul Tittl has responded to Mayor Justin Nickels’ letter regarding Washington Street.
He said that he met with the Director of the DOT’s Northeast Region, Colleen Harris, who confirmed that Washington Street is on their agenda, and will be fixed with a mix of state and federal funds.
The bad news came in a quote from Harris, who told Tittl “The project will be tentatively scheduled for 2029.”
That may seem like a long way off, but according to Nickels, the state highway was originally planned to be taken care of in 2037.
In his letter to the Mayor, Assemblyman Tittl also said that he is working with Senator Devin LeMahieu to make sure the project is “completed in a timely fashion.”
