Subcommittee on National Security Ranking Member Glenn Grothman along with House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer are calling for a full Committee hearing with Inspectors General regarding the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
In a letter to Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney, the legislators said that President Joe Biden “failed to respond” to a previous request for a hearing. They also cited a recent report which presented “new information and valuable context regarding the security situation in Afghanistan.”
Several other federal leaders, including the Acting Inspector Generals in the Department of Defense, the State, and the Agency for International Development, and the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction have already agreed to appear before the Committee should the hearing happen.
Grothman and Comer said that the President’s withdrawal from t America’s longest war was “disastrous”, and that they want to “hold the Biden Administration accountable.”
