The consensus seems to be that Badgers quarterback Graham Mertz showed good footwork, consistent timing on passes over the middle, and solid accuracy against Eastern Michigan.
The 6′ 3″ sophomore needed a better performance after the subpar play in the season-opening defeat to Penn State.
He still doesn’t have a touchdown pass and wasn’t under a lot of pressure last weekend.
Coaches say more improvement is needed moving forward.
Mertz can lean on the normal strong Badgers rushing attack and he has several weapons at his disposal among the receiving corps.
If Wisconsin is going to be able to finish drives in the red zone, it’s going to be up to Mertz to continue the improvement.
After a bye week, the next game for the Badgers is September 25th against Notre Dame at Soldier Field in Chicago.
