Former Wisconsin Badger T-J Watt has signed a deal with the Steelers that makes him the high-paid defensive player in the N-F-L.
The edge rusher reached agreement on a four-year extension worth $112 million this week.
C-B-S Sports has confirmed Watt is guaranteed $80 million.
The guaranteed money and the $28 million-per-year value are both records for the N-F-L.
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had told the media Watt should get “whatever he wants” while negotiations were going on.
He had a career-high 15 sacks last year to go with a league-leading 23 tackles for loss.
