The Appleton community is beginning to prepare to welcome roughly 100 Afghan refugees over the next several months, but housing them is a concern.
City officials, specifically the Community and Economic Development Committee are working on making sure it won’t be an issue once they start arriving.
A resolution has been taken up which would allow city officials to “offer any additional assistance it can to facilitate rapid response housing options.”
The resolution already passed the committee vote, and the full Council is expected to take it up next week.
Many business owners have stepped up already to offer jobs to these new citizens, and others have offered financial assistance, which will help make the transition much easier for the refugees.
