Beloit police say a possible threat at Memorial High School Wednesday morning led to what is called a “soft lockdown.”
The anonymous threat was reported at about 8:00 a-m.
The lockdown stayed in effect while police investigated.
Officers searched for weapons and officials with the Beloit School District decided to release students early for the day at 1:30 p-m.
All after-school practices and activities were canceled and parents and guardians of students were notified.
Police say the school was put on the soft lockdown out of an abundance of caution.
