He could still miss the N-F-L season opener against the New Orleans Saints, but Packers edge rusher Za’Darius Smith was back at practice Monday.
Smith has been dealing with a back injury and he was spotted doing individual drills.
Most onlookers think it’s a long shot that he would be able to start Sunday after missing so much time.
Despite that, the Packers know they need him all season and Smith might be held out to make sure he’s fully recovered.
Things will become clearer when the Packers release their injury report Wednesday.
In other NFL news, former Badger T-J Watt could sit out the N-F-L season opener with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Pro Bowl defender is seeking a pay hike after producing a career-high 15 sacks last season.
Watt didn’t fully participate in even one practice during the Steelers’ training camp.
He’s not technically a hold-out because he was there, but his work was limited to individual drills while working out away from his teammates.
The Steelers have a history of refusing to negotiate new contracts during the N-F-L regular season.
Watt is considered a favorite to be named N-F-L Defensive Player of the Year in 2021 — if he plays.
