Eastern Wisconsin’s representative in the U.S. Congress has introduced a pair of bills that will significantly increase career opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Congressman Glen Grothman’s Workplace Choice and Flexibility for Individuals with Disabilities Act and the Restoration of Employment Choice for Adults with Disabilities Act are both endorsed by A-Team USA, a grassroots organization that advocates for individuals with disabilities.
In a news release, Grothman said that the bills stemmed from an interaction he had with Yael Kerzan, a young woman in the 6th Congressional District.
“She is concerned that others like her won’t be able to enjoy the opportunities and experiences she has had since she was referred through her vocational rehabilitation agency in Portage 18 years ago,” Grothman explained.
Rick Wilson of A-Team USA voiced his appreciation that Grothman introduced these bills, saying “Rep. Grothman’s bills will correct problems in current law and enable individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, like my son, to have the choice of where they want to work.”
