There were no stunning surprises as the Green Bay Packers met Tuesday’s N-F-L deadline by trimming their roster to 53 players.
Inconsistent punter J-K Scott was released after three seasons and putting All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari on the physically unable to perform list means he won’t be available for six weeks.
Sixteen of the 27 players – or, possibly somebody who was cut by another team – will end up on the Packers’ practice squad.
Rookies like running back Kylin Hill and linebacker Isaiah McDuffie won positions on the official roster with their play in the preseason.
Meanwhile, New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton says his team is making arrangements to play its home games somewhere other than the Superdome.
The Packers and Saints are scheduled to kick off the 2021 N-F-L season September 12th. The official site for that game hasn’t been established.
The Saints are reportedly planning to spend the first few weeks of the season in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. They would likely practice at either T-C-U or S-M-U facilities while playing their home games at A-T-and-T Stadium.
Officials are warning that nothing is firm yet and the plans could change while New Orleans cleans up from Hurricane Ida.
