After a reversal by the Waukesha Board of Education, all students in that school district will be receiving free meals.
The board reversed its previous decision during a Monday night meeting.
The move came after a discussion lasting two-and-a-half hours that included a passionate debate between board members on how students should be fed.
Loud, angry meetings and some troubling threats led to the change that means the district will enter a federal program that provides the meals.
A standing-room-only crowd attended Monday night’s meeting.
