Even though players had to play on a wet field, the first-ever Carferry Cup was deemed a success.
The event was the first-ever set of games played between Manitowoc Lincoln, and Ludington High School in any sport.
The trip was well worth it for the Orioles Soccer Team, who defeated Luxemburg-Casco 5-0 and Lincoln 3-0.
We asked Lincoln Coach Chris Callen, who organized the event, what made him want to organize the games.
“As a non-native [of Manitowoc], I was always curious what Ludington was like,” he explained to Seehafer News. “I thought more about it, and as a soccer coach, just kind of fell upon the idea one day that this could be a really cool event.”
We also spoke with Ludington Coach, Chris Anderson, who said that their trip across Lake Michigan was a bit of an adventure.

“As we were boarding, we could see this front coming across…The boys were standing on the bow of the deck, and you could see the lightning bolts behind them,” he recalled. “It was pretty cool.”
Ludington Senior Bryce Billings said that this trip was a perfect opportunity for the now 4-0 Orioles to bond as a team.
Coach Anderson and Coach Callen agreed, both saying that this is an experience that none of these young men will ever forget.
