The Packers made a pair of moves Tuesday to get down to the 80-man roster limit before the deadline, but it involved some pain.
Defensive lineman Josh Avery was released and safety Will Redmond was placed on injured reserve.
That means Redmond is out for the season and he has become a special teams star for Green Bay.
He’s only started one game, but he played one-third of the defensive snaps last season and was a big contributor on special teams.
Before Tuesday the team had released linebacker Kamal Martin and tight end Daniel Crawford while trading Ka’dar Hollman to the Houston Texans.
