The Forest Lake Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its officers. Officials say Sergeant Kurt Kowarsch died in a U-T-V crash over the weekend in Wisconsin.
A Twitter post said the 42-year-old Kowarsch was a 14-year-old veteran at F-L-P-D, and “our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
Burnett County investigators say it looks like the U-T-V went out of control and hit several trees, then caught on fire.
Kowarsch previously worked for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Annandale Police Department.
