Another letter has been sent from Congressman Glen Grothman, the National Security Subcommittee Ranking Member, and House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer regarding Afghanistan.
This one was sent to U.S. Department of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, and it expressed concerns over reports the Taliban has acquired a significant arsenal of U.S.-made weaponry.
In the letter, Grothman and Comer said that “The Taliban is now armed with a significant arsenal of U.S.-made weaponry. Worse, it would appear the Biden Administration has no clue what or how many weapon platforms are now owned and operated by the Taliban.”
The Republican lawmakers note the Taliban has also seized biometric devices that could aid in its attempts to identify, persecute, and attack Afghans and allies that assisted in U.S. missions.
