Brandon Woodruff gave up six runs for the first time all season as the St. Louis Cardinals avoided a sweep and beat Milwaukee 8-4 Thursday.
Tyler O’Neill and Lars Nootbar hit back-to-back homers in a five-run fifth-inning rally that wiped out the Brewers’ 4-1 lead.
Woodruff absorbed the loss.
Second baseman Kolten Wong drove in a pair of runs, but Milwaukee was held to six hits.
Before the game, pitcher Freddy Peralta was placed on the 10-day injured list with shoulder inflammation.
Milwaukee returns to American Family Field to start a six-game homestand with left-hander Brett Anderson starting tonight’s contest against Washington.
