Republicans in the Wisconsin Legislature want the court to let them intervene in a federal lawsuit over political district boundaries.
Democrats brought the suit last Friday.
They want to throw out Wisconsin’s congressional and legislative district boundaries and not use them as the basis for drawing new maps following the 2020 Census.
Republican leaders want approval from a committee their party controls to intervene.
They want to hire attorneys outside the Wisconsin Department of Justice which is headed by Democrat Josh Kaul.
