The Wisconsin Department of Justice is investigating a Friday incident where a Marathon County deputy shot two people.
The man and woman who were hit have been hospitalized. Their names haven’t been released.
Investigators say the deputy was approaching a car after a police pursuit had ended.
A Lincoln County deputy had tried to stop the driver for speeding, but he got away.
The Marathon County deputy says he ordered the people in the car to get out. The man did but fired a shot at the deputy – who returned fire, hitting them both.
