A man is facing charges after he allegedly broke into an apartment and used a lamp as a weapon.
The Manitowoc police Department was informed of a burglary in process in an apartment in the 2000 block of Clark Street at around 3:30 AM yesterday morning (August 11th).
When they arrived, they heard the 50-year-old male suspect yelling inside. The caller, who was in the residence, told officers that the man was swinging a lamp around, and had piled boxes against the door.
Officers attempted to negotiate with the man, but he refused. Eventually, the man dropped the lamp and sat on the floor, telling the officers he needed Narcan.
They then entered the residence and arrested the suspect.
A witness told the officers that the man had broken the window on the door with the lamp, while the victim explained that the man was her boyfriend’s brother.
The man has been charged with False Imprisonment and two counts each of Criminal Damage to Property and Disorderly Conduct.
