Sixty people registered to testify about legislation banning critical race theory during a Wednesday hearing lasting almost seven hours.
Republican Senator Andre Jacque authored bills he says are aimed at stopping a “false narrative” that “promotes racist indoctrination.”
The measures would stop public schools, universities, and technical colleges from teaching about systemic racism and implicit bias.
Jacque introduced the bills in June.
One Democrat state senator challenged Republicans asking how many Wisconsin school districts actually teach critical race theory.
