It took about three years, but the Eternal Flame Fund now has over $200,000 in it, meaning the flame in Manitowoc will burn forever.
The fund was nearly empty in 2018, but through a massive fundraising effort, the Save the Flame Committee has collected enough to keep the flame alive eternally.
The amount of $200,000 was decided on, because it would allow the fund to accrue enough interest over time, to never run dry.
The Save the Flame team thanked everyone who donated. Every little bit mattered in getting to their goal.
It should be noted, that the group will continue to raise funds, with that money going toward helping Manitowoc County veterans and their families.
Those who wish to donate can do one of several options. You can drop off your donation or mail it to Manitowoc’s City Hall, located at 900 Quay Street. Make sure you include ATTN: Shaw Alfred.
