A member of the Manitowoc Public School District’s Board of Education boycotted the recent meeting of the Board, saying it lacked transparency.
Collin Braunel cited the fact that the meeting on August 3rd took place at noon, a time when many people are simply unable to attend, and said that the meetings are not live-streamed.
He also voiced his opinion that white supremacy and Critical Race Theory NOT be taught in the district, however, we had spoken with MPSD Superintendent Mark Holzman on the topic recently, and he said, “Critical Race Theory is not something that is taught in our curriculum. It’s not something that has been taught. We have not made any changes in our curriculum.”
It should also be noted that there weren’t any topics up for a vote at the recent meeting.
Braunnel also said he will be in attendance at the regularly scheduled School Board Meeting, which is scheduled for August 10th at 7:00 PM, which is also the time that the Board of Education normally meets.
