The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is putting the spotlight on the need for clean drinking water.
The state is starting a campaign called “Safe Water For All.” DNR officials say the month of August will be spent educating the public about drinking water safety.
A series of panel discussions are planned. Doctors with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services say contaminants like lead and nitrates bring a variety of severe health risks with them.
The DNR says thousands of Wisconsin residents don’t have access to safe drinking water at home.
