University of Wisconsin System President Tommy Thompson is pushing back against efforts by Republican lawmakers to control campus COVID-19 protocols.
Members of a committee want them cleared with the Legislature before they go into force.
Thompson says the biggest threat to in-person classes this fall would be to take away the tools the U-W System has used “so successfully.”
His comments came after Republican State Senator Steve Nass (NOSS) moved to block COVID-19 testing, masking, and vaccination protocols on System campuses.
The Legislature’s rules committee plans to meet next week to discuss the senator’s proposal.
