Alliance Laundry Systems has been recognized by Focus on Energy for the energy efficiency measures implemented over the past 18 months at its Manitowoc location.
Alliance purchased the former Manitowoc Crane Company plant in 2019 and has made many improvements to the 330,000 square foot facility.
In addition to making the lighting and heating and cooling systems more energy-efficient, Alliance installed eight new electric-powered injection molding presses. The new electric presses use significantly less energy than previous hydraulic models.
Overall, the improvements add up to a $270,000 annual savings in energy costs. Focus on Energy has also awarded Alliance $206,060 in incentive payments for the energy efficiency measures.
Focus on Energy estimates that the projects implemented in the past 18 months have so far saved 4,060,000 kiloWatt hours in electric use and 11,000 therms in natural gas use. That’s enough to power 533 homes for a year or the greenhouse gas emissions from driving the average passenger vehicle 7,200,000 miles or 306 times around the world.
The new injection molding presses make up about 75% of the energy savings
