The Two Rivers City Council is scheduled to gather this evening for a work session meeting in the Council Chambers.
At their 6:00 PM meeting, the Council is scheduled to take action on a proposal to move forward with the Splash Pad/Ice Skating Rink project in Central Park West, before discussing a letter from Next Era regarding them no longer maintaining the warning sirens.
This is because FEMA has approved a change for the Point Beach Nuclear Plant to use the Wireless Emergency Alerts system to warn citizens of a public emergency. That is the same program that issues AMBER alerts, tornado warnings, and other emergencies to citizens’ cell phones.
The Council will also enter a closed session to discuss possible city assistance for some unspecified economic development projects, any possible property sales, and a proposal for AIM Manitowoc LLC to purchase the former Paragon Partners property.
This is the only meeting on the agenda this week in the Cool City.
