A 53-year-old Sturgeon Bay woman who was convicted in the death of her ex-girlfriend has been sentenced.
Susan Soukup was found guilty due to a no-contest plea in April and was sentenced by Judge D. Todd Ehlers to life in prison.
Soukup stabbed and killed her ex-girlfriend, 32-year-old Katie McConkey on August 25th of last year, and told the responding officers, “I stabbed her.”
Soukup will be eligible for parole in 32 years, a figure Judge Ehlers picked because it matched the age McConkey was when she died.
Family and friends of McConkey were in attendance at the hearing, and several spoke, while Soukup reportedly apologized in court saying “Katie did not deserve to die.”
