Ten days ago, the Mason Street Bridge in Green Bay opened up to allow a ship to pass through, and it has yet to close.
The Department of Transportation has revealed that the gears on a part of the bridge failed to line up, causing the bridge to be closed to traffic for a week and a half.
It is estimated that 38,000 vehicles travel over the bridge on a daily basis, and since they no longer can, backups have been happening at many of the other bridges that cross the Fox River near downtown Green Bay.
As for when the problem will be resolved, a specific date has not been announced, but DOT officials are saying they are “cautiously optimistic” that the bridge will reopen to traffic by the end of July.
