Two people were taken into police custody early this morning (July 14th) after a disturbance at a Manitowoc hotel.
Police were called to Harbor Town Inn on Calumet Avenue just after 1:00 AM on a report of a woman attacking a man with a knife, and running from the room naked. Officers located the nude female outside and retrieved a blanket for her to cover up.
The officer noticed that the 40-year-old woman had visible injuries that required medical attention.
She told police that she had gotten into an argument with a 45-year-old man she was staying with at the hotel after she turned off the TV. The man then reportedly began hitting her and choked her to the point that she passed out.
The man told a different story. He claimed the woman hit herself and him, and held a knife to her own throat. He told officers that he took her to the ground in order to keep her from hurting herself with the knife.
Because both parties suffered injuries that were consistent with the contradictory stories, both were arrested.
The man was charged with Battery and Strangulation or Suffocation, each with a Domestic Violence Enhancer, while the woman was nabbed for Disorderly Conduct, also with a Domestic Violence Enhancer.
