Now that the Green Bay Police Department is getting body cameras, the Green Bay Area Public School District is looking into the idea of outfitting the school resource officers with them.
There are already multiple cameras in the schools, but the addition of body cameras is being considered to add a new angle or perspective to any potential incidents.
The policy that has been proposed would have the cameras inactive while on school grounds unless there is an incident requiring the resource officer.
It would be up to the officer’s judgment as to when it would be necessary to begin recording.
The proposal will likely be voted on during the next school board meeting, which will take place in August.
