Different foods from different cultures are being explored in a series at the Manitowoc Public Library.
Matt Kadow and Carl Sieracki, also known as the Weird Manitowoc Crew, have put together a two-part series called Manitowoc Bites.
“I think what Carl and I particularly learned is that it’s a far easier way to understand those experiences of others when you have the opportunity to do something so common as to sit down and eat with somebody,” Kadow told Seehafer News. “At the end of the day, like every human has to eat, and every culture, where do they collect, right? When families get together, when friends get together, it’s around the table”
The first part of the series dealt with such items as a polish duck blood soup, or Czarniana, an alcoholic dessert called cherry bounce, and a method of food preservation known as smoked chubs.
The second installment, this coming Thursday at 6 pm, will look at a Korean dish called kimchi, Hmong items like preserved duck eggs and beef sticks, and a Latino dish known as tortas.
