After taking a year off due to COVID, Sputnikfest is returning to Manitowoc’s Rahr-West Art Museum.
The annual celebration of the Clipper City’s odd connection to the space race is scheduled for September 11th and will feature brand new events for the whole family, along with returning favorites.
Sputnikfest commemorates the 1962 crash landing of the Russian Sputnik IV spacecraft in the middle of North 8th Street in Manitowoc, directly in front of the museum.
With an origin story so bizarre, attendees can expect a wacky celebration of space, science fiction, and art all day long.
