If you couldn’t find anything to do over the past weekend, it was your own fault. That is the conclusion of Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels.
Appearing on the WCUB Breakfast Club Tuesday morning, Nickels noted the activities of the Fourth of July Weekend, “Saturday we had the Vic Ferrari concert and there was thousands of people downtown on Saturday night for that. And then on the Fourth, we had the parade and the lighthouse tours and the maritime museum, I spoke with Kathy Green, who’s the director over there and she said they had over a thousand people walk through and take a tour of the submarine. One of their best days after COVID, which is great to see that. And then the fireworks were amazing. So yeah, it was just a perfect, beautiful holiday weekend.”
The mayor also discussed the road construction that has begun in the city, with three projects that started yesterday. The most notable is the reconstruction of Washington Street from 15th to 18th Streets. Traffic is being rerouted to Franklin Street for that project.
