The victim of yesterday’s traffic crash near Branch has been identified as 86-year-old John Konop of Manitowoc.
Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig issued a news release about the crash late this morning. About 7:45 AM yesterday morning Konop’s SUV collided with a milk truck at the intersection of US Highway 10 and County P near Branch. The quad-axle milk truck was driven by 68-year-old Daniel Faken of rural Manitowoc, who was not hurt.
Konop died of blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hartwig said the crash remains under investigation. He thanked several other agencies for assisting in the investigation at the crash scene.
Highway 10 was closed to traffic in that area from 7:50 AM until just after 11 AM.
